Running two fans to make better flow, with fan control (SW).

I was thinking of using two PWM 120 mm fans, to make it cooler and possible quieter. Has anyone tried this?

I was thinking of testing with two of these, have a couple mounted in my tv furniture to keep the ps3 from sounding like a small jet :) .

If you try this, its not my fault if you burn your family photos.
DON'T TRY THIS IF YOU DON'T KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE DOING!

Code: Select all

#!/bin/sh

# if the right call
if [ "$2" = "0x9045802C" ] ; then
  # if it tries to go lower, maybe we should let it
  if [ $(($3)) -lt 3000 ] ; then
   # echo "exec $0.old $1 $2 $(($3)), not changed less than 3000" >> /tmp/fanTest
   exec $0.old "$@"
   exit 0
  fi
  # Setting fan speed to go little slower
  # echo "exec $0.old $1 $2 $(($3)), changed to: exec $0.old $1 $2 $(($3 + 400))" >> /tmp/fanTest
  exec $0.old $1 $2 $(($3 + 400))
  exit 0
fi
# theese are not the droids you're looking for, - carry on
# echo "exec $0.old $1 $2 $(($3)) not changed, wrong second arg" >> /tmp/fanTest
exec $0.old "$@"
It probably not uses this script for anything else. But didn't want to gamle.
Now steady 35°C and 600-800 rpm
:D
