That unpopulated header indeed could contain a serial port. The marked edge (bottom-right on the photo) is 3.3V, I think, and the 2 pins left of it are ground.
You can have a look on the other side of the board if you can see if two narrow PCB tracks are running side by side from the header to the CPU. That might be TX and RX, then. (Serial ports often are wired that way, but of course they don't need to.). I guess the board is not multi layered, if it is, the lines could be in an in-between layer.

I did the same thing like you and now the IX4 bricked just yours, even not to the stage "USB".. :(

Do you finaly resolve the problem?

I have the same problem, what should I do after connecting the serial cable?
I want the cloud version, if you can not, throw it away.
I need the functions of the cloud version.

Parametri terminal 115200 8n1 xon-xoff

I tray:
tftp server
and i copy zImage, initrd in to folder tftp
then i write in terminal:

You wrote the kernel and initrd at 0x100000 and 0x540000, while u-boot reads them from 0xb0000 and 0x2d4000. As 0x100000 is within the range 0xb0000 +0x224000, you damaged the original kernel.

That original kernel failed to boot due to "Bad Magic Number", which is not a CRC error.

Bad magic number actually means that the uImage header is wrong. The header contains some info about the image, basically this kind of infomation:

a CRC and a 'magic number' to make sure it's actually a uImage header.

So your initrd seems not to be a uImage. Is that the Cloud version? You can check what kind of file it is using 'file' on a Linux box.

I used the image of your file ix4-200d-3.2.6.17887-recovery.zip.
The initrd and zimage are contained in that file.
Is possible that there is error in the file?
The strange thing is that if you see the log of the installation (the file in Dropbox), at the first start the initrd and zimage are regular, but after that created the partition and installed the file, then restart,and i see this error.
I had not the cloud version of ix4 and now I'm upgrade to the cloud.

I don't think so. Here you can read the story of that file, and it worked.

But it's possible that the Cloud is supposed to boot different, and that the initrd is used in another way. To know that you should need the u-boot environment of a Cloud box.

BTW, from your dropboxfile:
